In the central kilifi there is an emergency of food and water scarcity. Farmers who planted crops in the previous rain season were unable to harvest as expected since rainfalls fell short. Now they can’t plant and they need food. The elderly are surviving at the mercy of the young and children are almost going a day with just one meal or neither. A devastating moment indeed. There is a need for well wishers to respond immediately. A need of saving lives.
Besides the physical direct donations, trainings and provision of relevant materials to counter may add more advantage and empower locals to respond accordingly or erase completely hunger emergencies in the region.
Caritas Mombasa with the help of the region agriculture extensional officers has been able to train farmers on chicken rearing and distributed them with eight weeks old chicks. This was labeled as one of the best measures of dealing with the ongoing infamous famine.
Simply it is a hard time and to counter things must be done in a different way.
