SEA SUNDAY CELEBRATIONS

Catholic Archdiocese of Mombasa through Stella Maris, KMA, Bandari College, Kenya Shipping Line, International Transport Federation, Seafarers Union Kenya and Kenyan based Seafarers flocked together at Holy Ghost Cathedral to observe the Sea Sunday.

All parties active in the shipping business shared their experiences. Currently since the onset of the infamous Covid-19 pandemic it has been a menace. Companies have been closed down and employees have been laid off. It was reported that more than 2000 Kenyan based seafarers were jobless. The Kenyan Maritime Authority Principal Secretary promised to help the seafarers in sourcing for fair and conducive employment. Education and frequent training was labeled as mandatory if the onboard industry was to ventured. On the other side Seafarers committed to supporting the Ps in their pursue of smooth co-existence amongst them and the national government officials in the very sector/industry
