Balanced diet includes at least a piece of fruit in every meal or sometimes the whole of the true just depending on size and quantity. And the next question which arises after this meal related prescription is the availability and the cost of the fruit. It narrows down to desire which does not create demand. In the beginning of the year 2021 His Grace Martin Kivuva induced an initiative of cultivating Red swit Dwarf Pawpaw within the Catholic Archdiocese of Mombasa jurisdiction and outside. He managed to issue seedlings to respective Archdiocese owned farms for planting. At least He issued 8000 seedlings. One of the lucky farms to be a reception of the seedlings was Tumaini Farm 1 in machanzuni Lungalunga. One thousand trees were planted in it.
Most of the trees survived harsh weather conditions through continuous irrigation as water scarcity has been a challenge . Either a catastrophe leaving many farmers frustrated. That farmers did endure the dry seasons and there pawpaw trees did bear fruits. A sign of hope for a balanced diet on every persons dinning table. It is a call upon everyone to strive within their available space and create a fruit garden
